In Remembrance of Bro Kok Kien

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Last night wake service was a reflecting moment, at least it was to me. The sharing from sis Pik Yin was very deep and touching. God is good and faithful in all His work and in all His plan to those who are faithful to Him and persevere until the end.

Bro Kok Kien was born special. He was a simple and cheerful young man. Though he may gained nothing in his life and was never deemed to be a capable or successful person, yet God finds favour in him. God has drawn a wonderful plan for him.

Bro KK was dignosed with leukimia a year ago and needed to go through tremendous therapies and treatments since then. He started to experience the love and closeness of God, and not long after that, he committed his life to Him through baptism. Despite all the pains and sufferings that he had to bear, his smile and cheerful spirit was always very encouraging… He has a beautiful heart and thanksgiving heart. He may gained nothing in this life yet he had greatly gained and won the love of God.

God also finds favor in his sister, PY’s life. The extraordinary love of sis Pik Yin had not only touches Bro KK but all of us who knew her. The outpouring and unconditional love of putting aside everything, her job, her life and her family; she shared that if she was given a chance to choose again, she will still chose to stay beside her brother, serve him and take care of him until his last moment. Her selfless love and overwelming trust in God has become the light and salt for bro Kok Kien, and to everyone of us. She shared during the service, all her love, peace and strength was from God. God grace is always sufficient to anyone who never fails to put their trust in Him.

Sharing by Sis Joy about Kok Kien:-

Bro Kok Khien is born a down syndrome child but when he came to know God, you would not think that he is down syndrome when you talk to him. This is because of his love and obedience to God, his love and concern for other patients. Those who visited him, no one would think he is down syndrome. He is indeed a new man when he follow the teaching of Jesus, the son of God. Even to the last minute of his struggle with death, although he was fearful, although he knew he was going yet he asked us to join him in prayer to be with God. Such is his childlike faith and dependence on the only One God, Yahweh.

Here are some verses that came to me while I pondered on brother KK’s life this morning:-

James 4:14-15 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.”

Mat 6:26-34 “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?
“And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

Therefore brethren, “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
